Make your own croutons from left over brad such as pumpernickel, rye, whole wheat or a crusty loaf. Brush the bread with olive oil or melted butter and slice into small cubes. Spread on a baking sheet. Toast in a 400 degree oven, stirring often, until golden, for 4 to 6 min. For more flavor, toss hot croutons with freshly grated Parmesan cheese or fresh herbs. |
