Bring Home the Basil

Fragrant basil the most popular fresh herb.  You can grow small pots on a windowsill year round, to snip and sprinkle over pasta, salads, sauces or sliced tomatoes to give a refreshing, sweet clove like taste.

If you grow it in the garden, harvest it on a warm morning after the dew has evaporated. Snip the leaves and pack 12 to 15 together in small freezer bags.

They'll keep well in the freezer for at least three months for use in cooked sauces, soups or stews.
