All Star Herbs

Herbs are a nice change to add to foods.  However if your like me I don't know what herb should go with what food.  So here a few ideas to get you started seasoning like a pro.

1. Just before serving, scatter a mix of coarsely chopped herbs over soups or stews for an aromatic flavor perk.

2. Add whole basil, thyme or dill leaves to mussels and clams when steaming them.

3. Chop and toss oregano, coriander, basil or dill into pasta or rice salads.

4. Finely chop and stir tarragon, chives and coriander into Dijon mustard.  Spread on sandwiches, hot dogs or sausages.

5. Finely chop and stir parsley, chives or dill into room temperature butter and dab on cooked fish.

6. Place whole sprigs of thyme, rosemary, summer or winter savory in bottles of vegetable or olive oil.  Keep covered at room temperature.  Use in salads, as barbecue bastes or sprinkle over hot vegetables.

7. Chop and stir basil, oregano, thyme or rosemary into tomato sauces and salads.  Sprinkle over grilled tomatoes or tomato and cheese sandwiches.

8. Use whole leaves of basil, dill, sage or thyme as a stuffing for fish, chicken or pork.

9. Blend a variety of chopped herbs into ground meat before forming into patties.

10. Add a handful of coarsely chopped chives, lemon thyme, mint or rosemary into baking powder biscuits, bread dough's, scalloped potatoes, even macaroni and cheese.
