2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter and lard
3 eggs
2 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 cup sour milk

Cream shortening and sugar together.
Add eggs and beat until light.
Sift together all dry ingredients and ass alternately with sour milk.
Beat for two min.
Pour into 8x12 loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 min.
Cover with favorite frosting.
