Ingredients

1 lb. light brown sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 cup lard
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp. soda
1 cup buttermilk

 Breakfast Cake

Rub the first 5 ingredients together to form crumbs.
Re-serve 1/2 cup crumbs.
Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add with egg to remainder of crumbs.
Beat only until all crumbs are moistened.
Put into two 9 inch greased pie pans.
Sprinkle reserved crumbs over the top.
Bake in hot oven 530 degrees for 25 min.
